The House of Acorn is the royal house of Alba. The dynasty is of French paternal descent and was originally a branch of the House of Capet, itself derived from the Frankish Robertians. The House of Acorn has been the ruling family of Alba since 1325 with the first Acorn king being King Maximillian I. The family still has ownership of the centuries old Acorn Chateau near the village of Dauphin in France.
History[edit | edit source]
Foundation[edit | edit source]
The first Acorn was Jean Acorn (c. 999-1087) of the Dauphiné in Burgundy. In 1034, he was granted some land by the King of Burgundy on which the Acorn Chateau was built sometime in 1038.
Ascension to Royalty[edit | edit source]
At first, the Acorn family was at the rank of baron (they were promoted to duke in 1232) but then, Odo Acorn married Joan Tason in 1292 and they had a son named Maximillian in 1296 who succeeded the throne of Alba in 1325 after his uncle, Charles II, the last Tason king, died. The Acorns are still the ruling family of Alba to this day.
